| LED Adhesive Curing System Improves Productivity Over Bulb Systems |

Consistent, Reliable Processing
LEDs have a Life Span of 50,000 - 100,000 hours.
LEDs have a very stable output over their life allowing consistent processing from run to run.
Traditional UV bulbs have Life Span of 1,000 - 3,000 hours.
Traditional UV bulbs have an output that degrades during their short life requiring constant costly process monitoring and adjustment.
High productivity, Low Maintenance
The long life of LEDs avoids the productivity disruptions associated with changing traditional UV bulbs.
The long life of LEDs avoids the cost, space and tracking of carrying spare bulb inventory.
Traditional UV bulbs use costly light guides with transmission properties that degrade and must be replaced after 4,000- 6,000 hours of use.
Better Process Control
LED's narrow spectrum can be matched to the wavelength needed for curing a particular material.
Mercury bulbs produce a broad spectrum with multiple emissions lines from IR to UV. Only one or a few of the emissions lines actually contribute to photo curing processes. The other emission lines cause excessive heating, warping and uneven shrinkage.
LED systems have No Excess Heating.
LED systems avoid material damage from the extreme short wavelengths emitted by traditional bulbs.
LED systems avoid the complexity, optical power loss, and cost associated with optical filters for traditional bulb systems.
Avoid costly safety hazards
No worry about Mercury Contamination introduced by some UV bulb systems.
No worry about UVC and UVB Radiations generated by most UV bulbs.
No worry about Ozone Creation by some UV bulb systems.
No worry about High Voltage used as "starter" by some UV bulb systems.
No worry about High Temperature present in UV bulbs.
No worry about High Pressure that exist in many UV bulbs.
Efficient Energy Conversion
LED systems produce a narrow band of optical energy focused on a specific wavelength.
Conversion ratio from electrical to useful optical energy is about 10% for LED system.
Bulb systems produce wide band optical energy with many emission lines of which only a small fraction is useful for curing a particular adhesive. Conversion ratio from electrical to useful optical energy is about 5% for bulb system.
Convenient Efficient Power Control
LEDs have Instantaneous On/Off control by reliable solid state circuits. Between exposures, the LEDs can be turned off to save energy and conserve their already long life.
UV bulb systems have a 2- 5 minute "Warm Up" time. To avoid the nuisance of Warm Up, many UV bulbs are turned on all the time. For short exposures, bulb systems use mechanical shutters and suffer the associated reliability risks.
However, the bulbs are constantly consuming energy and accumulating time against their relatively short life.
